“Big Data Analytics: Wisdom or Folly!”

INTRODUCTION:
The Sindh Innovation, Research, and Education Network (SIREN) working under the auspices of the Government of Sindh, and the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) is organizing a Lecture entitled, “Big Data Analytics: Wisdom or Folly!”. All research scholars, students, scientists, and faculty of SIREN universities are cordially invited to attend this important lecture.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:    
·       To focuses on the development of statistical and computational strategies for a host of sparse regression models in the presence of mixed signals.
·         To discuss a new “post selection shrinkage strategy” that takes into account the joint impact of both strong and weak signals to improve the prediction accuracy and opens pathways for further research in such scenarios.

LECTURE DELIVERY:                                                                                            
This lecture is organized by the Sindh Innovation Research and Education Network (SIREN) and is coordinated by the Latif Ebrahim Jamal National Sciences Information Center, ICCBS, University of Karachi. ABOUT SPEAKER:
Prof. Dr. Ejaz Ahmed is a Dean Faculty of Math & Science at Brock University, Canada. He obtained his Ph.D. from Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He is a Senior Advisor to Sigma Analytics (Data Mining & Research), Regina.
He is an internationally known scholar and an established researcher. His research interests concentrate on big data, predictive modeling, data science, and statistical machine learning with applications in many walks of life. Recently, he was awarded the prestigious Bualuang ASEAN Chair Professorship. Dr. Ahmed authored several books and edited/co-edited several volumes and special issues of scientific journals.
