INTRODUCTION:
The Sindh Innovation, Research, and Education Network (SIREN) working under the auspices of the Government of Sindh, and the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) is organizing a Lecture entitled, “Generalizable, Ethical, and Interpretable Natural Language Processing; Harmonizing Human- like and Humane”. All research scholars, students, scientists, and faculty of SIREN universities are cordially invited to attend this important lecture.
LECTURE DELIVERY:
This lecture is organized by the Sindh Innovation Research and Education Network (SIREN) and is coordinated by the Latif Ebrahim Jamal National Sciences Information Center, ICCBS, University of Karachi. ABOUT SPEAKER:
Dr. Ali Emami is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Brock, University. He holds a BSc in Physics & Computer Science, and an MSc and Ph.D. in Computer Science from McGill University and the Montreal Institute of Learning Algorithms (Mila). His work has consisted of developing and evaluating pioneering systems in Machine Learning toward progress in natural language understanding. He has also been actively involved in applying his innovations to a variety of real-world domains and sectors, including those in transportation, healthcare, robotics, games, and conversational agents. As a recent recipient of the NSERC Discovery Grant, his research has thus far contributed to over 17 peer-reviewed publications and over 400 citations across various disciplines. His current research focuses on addressing difficult and open problems in Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing (NLP), including deep learning, common-sense reasoning (CSR), language understanding, causality, interpretability, dialogue, and ethical AI.
