INTRODUCTION:

The use of laboratory animals in biological research plays a crucial role in advancing scientific knowledge and medical breakthroughs These animals, including mice, rats, rabbits, and primates, are carefully selected for their physiological and genetic similarities to humans, making them valuable models for studying various diseases and developing potential treatments in a pre-clinical model Laboratory animals provide researchers with the opportunity to conduct controlled experiments, allowing for the systematic investigation of complex biological processes They enable scientists to study disease progression, test the safety and efficacy of new drugs, and explore mechanisms underlying physiological and pathological conditions By closely mimicking human biology, laboratory animals contribute to the development of therapies and interventions that can be translated into clinical practice.

OBJECTIVES: 

Principle of animal care and handling.

Use of laboratory animal in different pre-clinical model.

Animal dissection and organ harvesting.

Post-operative experiments to understand pathophysiology and molecular mechanism.

LEARNING OUTCOMES: 

To make students aware of laboratory animal handling techniques, ethics & care.

To make them aware about dosing injecting, and dissection of mice or rats.

To make them aware about microscopic analysis using high end microscopy.
