Signal Transduction

04 December, 2023 - 07 December, 2023

Four-Day Hybrid Workshop:

Signal Transduction.

Workshop Facilitator:

Prof. Dr. Rafat Siddiqui

(Associate Director of Agriculture, College of Agriculture, Virginia State University, Petersburg, USA).

INTRODUCTION:

The Sindh Innovation, Research, and Education Network (SIREN) working under the auspices of the Government of Sindh, and the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) is organizing a four-day hybrid workshop entitled, “Signal Transduction”. All research scholars, student scientists, and faculty of universities are cordially invited to attend this important workshop.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES:

The workshop is a four-day event that will provide attendees with a comprehensive overview of cellular mechanisms that are used by hormones, neurotransmitters, cytokines (interleukins), and growth factors. This comprehensive overview of signal transduction will provide attendees with the knowledge needed to understand the complex cellular signaling pathways that contribute to the initiation and progression of chronic diseases, including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and inflammation.

The workshop is an ideal opportunity for researchers, clinicians, and students to gain a comprehensive understanding of cellular processes. Attendees will learn from Dr. Rafat Siddiqui and participate in interactive discussions. By the end of the workshop, attendees will have the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to cutting-edge life science research.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR:

Prof. Dr. Rafat Siddiqui is currently working as interim Associate Director of Agriculture Research Station at Virginia State University, Petersburg, Virginia, United States. Dr. Siddiqui earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Karachi, Karachi, Pakistan. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Australian National University in Canberra, Australia. Dr. Siddiqui served as a postdoctoral fellow at Massey University in Palmerton North, New Zealand.

He is an internationally recognized expert of nutrition in many areas, including metabolic syndrome, cancer, cardiovascular disease, inflammation, and neurosciences. He has published over 150 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and has written several invited review articles, book chapters, commentaries, and editorials on emerging issues. Dr. Siddiqui's research has been featured on BBC, FOX TV, and WTHR broadcasts, as well as in the Sun, Telegraph, Indianapolis Star newspapers, and several other media outlets. He is on the editorial board of numerous scientific journals. At present, Dr. Siddiqui's research interests are in the area of cancer, inflammation, and cardiovascular diseases. His research emphasis is on the synergistic modulation of chronic diseases by a combination of nutrients and drugs.
