“Superconductivity in quantum wires: symmetry, topology, and fluctuations”

12 October, 2022 - 12 October, 2022

INTRODUCTION:

The Sindh Innovation, Research, and Education Network (SIREN) working under the auspices of the Government of Sindh, and the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) is organizing a Lecture entitled, “Superconductivity in quantum wires: symmetry, topology, and fluctuations”. All research scholars, students, scientists, and faculty of SIREN universities are cordially invited to attend this important lecture.

LECTURE DELIVERY:

This lecture is organized by the Sindh Innovation Research and Education Network (SIREN) and is coordinated by the Latif Ebrahim Jamal National Sciences Information Center, ICCBS, University of Karachi. It will be conducted onsite on campus, and through the video conferencing setup of the SIREN. For video Conferencing parameters are: [email protected]

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:

Prof. Dr. Kirill Samokhin

Department of Physics, Brock   University, Canada

Research Interests

Unconventional superconductivity: no centrosymmetric and magnetic superconductors, high-temperature superconductors. Superconducting fluctuations. FFLO superconducting states. Topological defects in unconventional superconductors.

Abstract:

We present some recent results in the theory of quasi-1D noncentrosymmetric superconductors (quantum wires), focusing on the peculiar structure of the superconducting gap in the presence of external magnetic field, the bulk-boundary correspondence in topologically nontrivial states, and also the stability of zero-energy fermionic boundary modes against fluctuations.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

This lecture is open to students, researchers, young scientists, and faculty.

PROGRAM SCHEDULE: 12th October 2022

DAY AND TIME: Wednesday 09:30am --10:30 am
