INTRODUCTION: The Sindh Innovation, Research, and Education Network (SIREN) working under the auspices of Government of Sindh and the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), is organizing a hybrid course entitled, “Drug Development, and Advanced Technique for Drug Research.” In this one credit hours course, in-depth understanding of advanced technique for drug research (Histological and Immunohistochemical (IHC) Techniques) will be delivered.
Learning Objectives
To have a basic knowledge and clear understanding of drug design and drug discovery.
To have enough knowledge for developing “Humanized Disease Model” in animal for drug research.
To have a clear understanding of translational of in-vitro dosages to in-vivo.
To have an in-depth understanding of advanced technique for drug research (Histological and Immunohistochemical (IHC) Techniques).
INSTRUCTOR’S PROFILE:
Professor Dr. Hafizur Rahman:
Professor Dr. Hafizur Rahman has a long association with PCMD, ICCBS, University of Karachi. Through a collaboration between BIRDEM (Bangladesh Institute of Research and Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders) and ICCBS, he came to ICCBS and successfully established a “Molecular Diabetology Laboratory” at PCMD and expanded his expertise in the development of diabetic models in rats and used these models for different research projects. He established the islet isolation techniques from mice at PCMD for the first time in Pakistan.
At present, Dr. Hafiz is working as a part-time Professor in a private university named Primeasia University in Dhaka. He has more than 60 publications in both national and international journals. He also received MEXT fellowship from Japan for the PhD program.
