The National Facility for Laboratory Animal Research and Care (NFLARC), International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), in collaboration with Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) and Sindh Innovation Research, and Education Network (SIREN) is organizing a specialized training course aimed to provide practical training to students and researchers to gain knowledge, and develop skills, experience, and attitude necessary to handle the small Laboratory Animals (SLA) for research purposes. In this context, it gives me an intense pleasure to invite you to the international training course entitled “Dissection and Specimen collection from Small Laboratory Animals” on February 8-11, 2023.
Laboratory animals are becoming increasingly important for biomedical research. The starting point for the laboratory investigation of a dissection of a laboratory animal for the experiment is the collection of organs/tissue samples. This workshop considers some general principles involved in sample collection for histology. For the disease diagnosis, the collected tissue sample should be representative of the condition being investigated, and the lesions observed. Samples should be taken with care, to avoid undue stress or injury to the animal or danger to the operator. Where appropriate, samples should be collected aseptically, and care should be taken to avoid cross-contamination between samples. I hope this two-day workshop will help the participants to develop expertise in experiments involving SLA.
This workshop is designed for Graduate students, Research assistant, and Research officers.
SCOPE:
The workshop summarizes the organization and management of animal experiments, in which participants will know the entire process and protocols involved in Dissection and specimen collection from SLA.
