Lecture (Hybrid) on Stereochemistry of Carbogens and its transfer in Chemical Reactions

Jointly organized by OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) And Sindh Innovation, Research, and Education Network (SIREN).

 

INTRODUCTION:

OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), and Sindh Innovation, Research, and Education Network (SIREN) are jointly organizing a Lecture (Hybrid) entitled, “Stereochemistry of Carbogens and its transfer in Chemical Reactions” coordinated by the L.E.J.  National Science Information Center, International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi.

 

CONTENT:

The description of the stereochemistry of carbogens has attracted the interest of chemists especially those involved in the isolation and synthesis of natural compounds. For example, Fischer, when he synthesized glucose for the first time was surprised to get a substance possessing all the properties of the natural compound but that did not have its optical properties. Chirality, prochirality and stereocontrol in chemical reactions will be discussed including the role of chiral catalysts.
