INTRODUCTION:

OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH), and Sindh Innovation, Research, and Education Network (SIREN) are jointly organizing 1 Credit hour course for Ph.D. students entitled, “Biologics (Cancer Genetics)” coordinated by the L.E.J.  National Science Information Center, International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi.

 

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This is 1 credit hour course for Ph.D. students that will include detailed learning about cancer, its genetics, eptogenetics, and also the role of diet in cancer.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

By successfully completing this course, students will be able to:

•             Students will be able to understand the molecular mechanism of cancer.

•             The role of genetics and epigenetics in cancer progression.

•             They will be able to understand the role of diet in cancer.

 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This Course targets the full spectrum of scientists, research scholars, and faculty from different fields such as Life science, Biotechnologist, Biochemist, Microbiologist, Physiologist, Geneticist, and Cancer Biologist

 

INSTRUCTOR’S PROFILE:

Prof. Dr. Rafat Ali Siddiqui is currently working as a tenured-Professor and Director of the Nutrition Science and Food Chemistry Laboratory at Virginia State University, Petersburg, Virginia, United States. Dr. Siddiqui earned his BSc and MSc degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Karachi in Karachi, Pakistan.

At present, Dr. Siddiqui's research interests are in the area of cancer, inflammation, and cardiovascular diseases. His research emphasis is on the synergistic modulation of chronic diseases by a combination of nutrients and drugs. He has been invited as a keynote speaker at several national and international conferences.
