One-day Workshop on Data Analysis for Scientific Inquiries

INTRODUCTION:

         The Sindh Innovation, Research, and Education Network (SIREN) working under the auspices of the Government of Sindh, and the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) is organizing a one-day workshop entitled, “Data Analysis for Scientific Inquiries”. This one-day workshop will introduce you to the fundamental concepts of statistics and its uses in the research domain. This workshop will also focus on the uses and functions of statistical software.

 

LEARNING OBJECTIVE:

·         Understand fundamental concepts of statistics.

·         Understand different data types and their analysis.

·         Read-in, enter, organize, and save data in a suitable way

·         Calculate/recode variables and prepare data for analysis

·         Conduct descriptive and basic inferential statistics

·         Be familiar with SPSS presentation of statistical output

·         Create and edit graphical displays of data

LECTURE DELIVERY:

This workshop is organized by the Sindh Innovation Research and Education Network (SIREN) and is coordinated by the Latif Ebrahim Jamal National Sciences Information Center, ICCBS, University of Karachi. It will be conducted onsite on campus, and through the video conferencing setup of the SIREN network.

Dr. Rakesh Parkash

Dr. Rakesh is associated with Iqra University Karachi as an Assistant Professor of Accounting and Finance. He has a Ph.D. in Finance (Corporate Bankruptcies and Financial Distress) and earlier he obtained an MBA (Finance) from Iqra University. He has a decade of hands-on experience in using statistical software like SPSS, E-views, and SMART PLS for research data analysis. He is also engaged in supervising MBA research projects and actively publishes his research in research journals of international repute.
