INTRODUCTION
The Sindh Innovation, Research,
and Education Network (SIREN) working under the auspices of the Government of
Sindh, and the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences
(ICCBS) is organizing a lecture entitled, “All-Optical Control of Interfacial
Polarization in MoS2/WSe2 Heterobilayers”. This lecture is highly useful for
Researchers, Interns, Students, and faculty
LEARNING OUTCOMES

·
Understand How Laser
Pulses Can Drive Electronic Excitation
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr. Sufyan Ramzan is
a Habilitation candidate in the Jena Electronic Theory and Spectroscopy (JETS)
group led by Prof. Caterina Cocchi at Friedrich Schiller University Jena,
Germany. Originally from Pakistan, he earned his BS in Materials Engineering
from the University of the Punjab and his MS in Computational Materials Science
from KAIST, South Korea. He later worked as a research associate in Prof.
Thomas Heine’s group at the University of Leipzig and completed his PhD in
Physics in 2021 at Jacobs University Bremen in PD Dr. Agnieszka Kuc’s group,
focusing on the electronic and transport properties of nanomaterials. He then
worked from 2021 to 2025 as a postdoctoral researcher in the Electronic
Structure Theory group at the University of Oldenburg before joining JETS in
2025.
His research focuses
on the electronic and optical properties of low-dimensional materials and van
der Waals heterostructures, especially their excited-state response under laser
pulses using real-time time-dependent density functional theory.
